Over the past year or so I have spent hundreds of hours interacting with fellow expats and sailors in South Korea. It is a scene not unlike everywhere else where friends gather. I’m just another face in the audience.
My closest friends know what I do, but the majority of the folks I come in contact with here just assume that I’m part of this U.S. Military system. Recently I moved into a brand new apartment with a gorgeous view when a friend of a friend stopped by. We have had some small talk before but nothing to actually disclose my occupation.
She knew I came and went as I pleased, I traveled to places like Japan and Thailand frequently and that I lived at a very nice location. It had been some coffee she asked the question, “So Scott what in the world do you do for a living?”
I really do get asked this from time to time along with my normal response is that Bryan flowers in Pattaya Internet Marketer. That raises some eyebrows and the majority of the time a few more questions. I then proceed to describe what an Internet Marketer does, the article writing, the keyword research, the site building, the blah. . .blah. . .blah.
I knew that my regular response “Well, I’m an Internet Marketer” would suffice and result in additional questioning, but I felt she did not wish to know all of the boring details. Rather I could see that she had been more interested in the lifestyle that it gives me. I then understood that I’m a Lifestyle Marketer. Nobody, I surely didn’t dream about some of that. I dreamed of a lifestyle that studying Internet Marketing could afford me.
So with this flash of brilliance it made me consider my own marketing efforts, what are I marketing? What if I promote? Over the upcoming few weeks I will be analyzing this, talking it over with fellow IM’ers, and will likely create a new test blog. The general branding theme is going to probably be of course, Lifestyle Marketing.
